Assignment

Pieces of a loan that are sold to other banks after the close of syndication. The amount of the assignment usually must exceed a certain amount (typically $1-10 million) and the assigning bank must pay a fee to the Administrative Agent (the fee can range broadly, but usually is $1,500-3,000). The assignee becomes a direct signatory to the loan and receives interest and principal payments directly.
