Synonym: Extraordinary General Meeting

A company meeting of shareholders called for an extraordinary purpose such as the approval of a merger or a capital increase. In contrast with the annual general meeting, which is a routine meeting of shareholders to approve the accounts and dividend payments and to elect directors.
