Editing
To edit any page just click on the "edit" tab. You must have an account and be logged in to edit.
Here are a few basic pointers on wiki syntax. For a more detailed description you can visit the MediaWiki guide (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_User%27s_Guide:_Editing_overview#Wikitext_markup_--_making_your_page_look_the_way_you_want_it).
Linking Other Pages
To link to a page in the Reuters Financial Glossary use:
[[Page Name|link text]].
- For example,
[[OPEC|Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries]]will produce Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
- If the link text should be the same as the page name then you can omit it. For example,
[[OPEC]]will produce OPEC.
- To link to an external web page use
[URL link text]. For example,[http://www.reuters.com Reuters home page]produces Reuters home page (http://www.reuters.com).
Formatting Wiki Text
For bold text surround the text with three single quotes.
For example, '''to boldly go''' will produce to boldly go.
For italicized text, surround the text with two single quotes.
For example, ''a peculiar slant'' will produce a peculiar slant.
A blank line is used to indicate the end of a paragraph.
You can also use the toolbar buttons which appear above the text entry box. If you want to experiment with writing an entry, please do so in the sandbox. And finally, when you're editing you can always use the "Show preview" button to check how your entry will look, just remember to save your changes once you are happy with them.
Mathematical Formula
You can use the <math></math> markup to enter mathematical formula in TeX. For example, <math>x_{1,2}=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}</math> produces
.
You can read much more about formula formatting in the Mediawiki help page for formulas (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Formula).
