The National Association of Securities Dealers' Automated Quotations System, formerly owned and operated by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). NASDAQ is an electronic stock market based in New York listing many leading high-tech companies. The exchange's index â?? the NASDAQ Composite â?? has become an alternative benchmark to the DJIA.
