Single Stock Future

A futures contract which gives the right to purchase shares of a single company at a set price. This contrasts with an index future which gives the right to buy all the constituents of a specific share market index. Single stock futures offer a more highly geared way of investing in a stock because the holding can be initially controlled by just the cost of the futures contract.
