Abbreviation for Extraordinary General Meeting. An unscheduled meeting of shareholders called to approve non-routine matters. In contrast to an annual general meeting (AGM), a routine, scheduled meeting of shareholders called to approve a company's accounts, dividend payments and the election of board members.
