Money

An asset accepted by general consent as a medium of exchange. It may be in the form of coins or banknotes or units stored on a prepaid electronic card. Short-term deposits with credit institutions also serve the purpose of money. Money performs three functions, as a unit of account, a means of payment and a store of value.
