NAB

Abbreviation for New Arrangements to Borrow. A credit line to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) set up by 26 members and institutions following the Mexican financial crisis in 1994 that allows the IMF to borrow additional sums if needed. The arrangements have been renewed twice, most recently in November 2007 for a period of five years from November 2008. The NAB would be called on first before resorting to the General Arrangements to Borrow (GAB), a credit line with the G10 group of countries. The maximum amount of resources available to the IMF under the NAB and GAB is SDR 34 billion (about $53.4 billion).
