Abbreviation for Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. A group of 30 developed and developing countries which promotes democratic government and the market economy. Group members discuss and define economic and social policies and also work with non-member countries and less developed nations. OECD economic statistics and analyses of members' economies are closely watched by financial markets.
