OM acquired the Stockholm stock exchange in 1998 and merged with the Helsinki stock exchange in 2003. The new company, named OMX, acquired the Copenhagen stock exchange in 2005 and in 2006 the Iceland stock exchange and 10 percent of the Oslo stock exchange. OMX was acquired by NASDAQ in 2007 and the company was named NASDAQ OMX in 2008.
