Synonym: Swiss Market Index
The SMI consists of 24 securities (bearer shares and participation certificates) from 20 major Swiss companies quoted on the Basel, Geneva and Zurich Stock Exchanges. It is index weighted by the market capitalization of its constituent securities. The SMI is the basis of the index options traded on Eurex.
