A chart pattern used in technical analysis to forecast market trends, with two converging lines connecting a series of peaks and troughs to form a wedge. It is similar to a triangle. Wedges are usually seen within an existing market trend and are generally continuation patterns. The wedge usually lasts more than a month but no more than three months.
